Association History

You have to know where you’ve been to know where you are going. Kappa holds a special place in its heart for Fraternity history, but every association of our organization has unique beginnings of its own. Each plays a part in shaping us today and continuing the Kappa tradition beyond college.

Since 1944, the Detroit North Woodward Alumnae Association (DNW-AA) has been connecting Kappas throughout the Oakland County area.  We are a diverse group of women of all ages and backgrounds.  Kappa is our uniting bond that connects us for a lifetime.

Our group is active September through June.  We encourage you to become a member anytime, whether you can attend one event or all.  We offer a variety of daytime and evening activities for our members, as well as opportunities to further your involvement by joining the Board or organizing a special interest group.

Our group actively supports several philanthropic causes, including local charities and Reading is Fundamental ("RIF") programs, Kappa's national philanthropy.  We also provide support and mentoring to the active Kappa chapters at Michigan State University and University of Michigan.
